person12345 agony auntYes actually. Very diluted urine can actually cause a false negative or a positive so faint it's impossible to read. I know it makes you anxious to wait, but the absolute best time and really the only time you should take a pregnancy test is with your first urine first thing in the morning because the concentrations of the pregnancy hormone are highest then.

Laura1318 agony auntMany home pregnancy tests (HPTs) claim to be 99 percent accurate on the first day of your missed period.

But research suggests that most HPTs do not always spot pregnancy that early. And when they do, the results are often so faint they are misunderstood.

If you can wait one week after your missed period, most HPTs will give you an accurate answer. Ask your doctor for a more sensitive test if you need to know earlier.

The amount of hCG or pregnancy hormone in your urine increases with time. So, the earlier after a missed period you take the test, the harder it is to spot the hCG.

Also, testing your urine first thing in the morning may boost the accuracy.

I don't think the increased in the water will affect the test. The hcg is still there.

KaileyLove agony auntI may not be much help, but I've heard that you shouldn't force yourself to go to the bathroom for a pregnancy test because it could come back positive.

That's what my biology teacher said.
