It's possible, and even highly probable. But the real question is: so what? Seriously, a hymen means next to nothing. Some people aren't even born with them!
I do feel bad for you though - broken or not, that sounds like it hurts.

tampons can sometimes break a hymen or alter it, but it's more likely that the pain you were experiencing was because you were pulling a dry tampon out of you. That's always really painful, virgin or not.
Are you sure you left a plastic part in you? They slide into each other and then only look like one.
