He tells me he enjoys making love with me, but I wonder... wouldn't he ejaculate during intercourse if he loved me and was excited by me?

I have had sex with 2 women at the same time and one felt amazing and the other I felt less. This to me indicates that all women are different and less compatible with certain other males. With my current partner if I stay away from masturbation for a week I can ejaculate, but this took loads of practice. I didn't really enjoy the sex with her at first but now after a few years together we have good sex. She orgasms within a few minutes of intercourse and is very awkward her body thrusts in the wrong direction, she tenses up plus she is 1ft shorter than me which doesn't help.My advice would be to keep trying and to try different positions etc. Another idea is for him to start with intercourse until you orgasm and then do what every he likes to make him ejactulate (i.e oral, hand job, breast relief etc) that was you both get satisfaction and it shouldn't be such a big deal.

In my opinion, too much pornography may be involved. May be wrong, but also, his age may be starting to affect his abilities. You state your age range as 51-59 - so must presume that he is near or within that range. Age does begin to make a difference sometimes. Also can affect women.

sounds exactly like person12345 said..over masturbation
I would honestly tell him to try not to masturbate at all for a few days and then have sex and see if that helps
if it doesn't then maybe it's nerves my husband sometimes wants to ejaculate so badly that it almost sikes him out and it doesn't happen
has your sex life always been this way? or is this a new thing that has developed?

Sounds like he may be over-masturbating. It's possible to desensitize himself to sex with too firm a grip or just overdoing it with frequency. A hand provides a much stronger grip than a vagina does. He should take a hiatus and see if that helps out.
This is not an issue of if he loved you or not. It just sounds like he is over stimulating himself.
