 OP, I think nobody can give you any good ideas if you don't tell us what your bf 's tastes and interests are. Every special someone is different from the previous or next special someone !
So, is he into sports ? Music ? Video games ? Movies ? does he collect anything ? Is he a foodie, does he like to dress well ? ..you should tell us something more.

if you guys have private jokes between the two of you, can you get him something relateed to them?
is there a tv programme/film you watch together? is there something relating to that he can enjoy?
i'm your age and it is almost my boyfriends birthday and i'm planning on getting him pokemon dvds because he likes pokemon and i now it is something he will appreciate.
