Bf has anorexic porn on the computer! How do I talk to him about this?

A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I recently discovered pornography on my computer that I share with my boyfriend. I don't have a problem with pornography but I was shocked by the kind of porn it was. The women and men were all anorexic, skinny and emaciated. Some of the photos were also gay porn but in all of the photos, everyone's ribs and skeletons were showing. I haven't talked to my boyfriend about this yet but I'm so shocked that I'm not sure what to do. Does he need help? Need advice.

BigSis agony auntI know this is quite an old thread, but someone's brought it up, and it caught my eye.

I just want to say to Anon who's justadded their bit below me here, and to a couple of others.....why on earth would you suggest that this woman lose weight? Is it to satisfy her other half's fetish or fantasy or for whatever reason he had to be browsing this type of porn?

Sod that for a laugh!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (18 April 2008):

oh gosh... to reply to the idiot up above who said you should lose weight... YES there's a reason models are on the runway... so that clothes will be seen better... not WORN better!! Thats why a clothes hanges is THIN!!!! So you can DISPLAY the clothes!!! and because of that, idiotic sheep like the ppl telling this lovely person to lose weight, started thinking that only thin is beautiful.

anyone who thinks that shows their lack of identity.

And no I'm not saying thin is ugly, I'm just explaining why models need to be thin - LOGICALLY.

I model myself, but would LOVE to gain weight. But then that's because I think health and happiness comes first. :-)

"I bet you couldn't name 3 people who have died from being too thin EVER."

I can name plenty of people who die from being too thin. That includes models and regular people. Which do you prefer?

Why the hell are you so shocked? It's really not that big of a problem. I think I would laugh if I saw that on mine. Oh, and I came across this question by searching "anorexic porn" so i'm sure other people here have stumbled on this the same way. Get over it. It's called curiosity, and everyone likes different things. Who are you to judge anybody?

A male reader, anonymous, writes (11 February 2008):

Its just curiosity, I am a man myself and I'm sure I'd be curious to see what anorexic girls are like at sex. I know it sounds weird but that's human nature. Have a word with him and tell him how this upsets you. If he insists on watching it then you know what to do.

A female reader, anonymous, writes (9 December 2007):

Most north americans are overweight and descensitized to the appearance of it. The rest of the world looks thin but really is much healthier. Nearly every disease nowadays is related to being overweight. ex. heart disease is the leading cause of death in the US. Thats millions of people dying. I bet you couldn't name 3 people who have died from being too thin EVER.

LOSE WEIGHT!

A female reader, anonymous, writes (6 December 2007):

There is also the possibility that the reason for the porn is not sexual. Your boyfriend may have an eating disorder, does he show any symptoms of anorexia or bulimia. It may sound odd, but about 10% of eating disorder patients are males, and that number is probably skewed low by the stigma against males seeking treatment.

Ignore those jerks who said you should lose weight, by the way.

I agree with the last poster- seriously, lose some weight before he dumps you!

A male reader, anonymous, writes (4 November 2007):

you should probably lose wome weight if you want to keep him. There are a lot of really skinny girls out there. You don't need to be anorexic, but just look at these models out on the runways, there's a reason that they're out there and not you.

you do need help. If you can not openly discuss things of sexual nature with your boyfriend then you have problems.

A reader, anonymous, writes (14 February 2007):

I can only imagine this is one of two things,

He could be looking at it because he was more curious, or he could have an actual desire for that kind of pornography.

The problem with Internet porn is that "regular" porn eventually feels less explicit, it does less to excite the mind. The person then seeks out slightly more risky genred porn, and it snowballs from there. Perhaps debatable, but excessive porn viewing at least desensitises the mind to sex and a women's body so it needs more explicit imaginary to be sexually aroused. It is why we have so many hundreds of problems from people on here saying pornography is affecting their relationship.

I agree with the other advice, if you feel uncomfortable about what you have found then you should confront him about it. All the best.

A female reader, Granny +, writes (14 February 2007):

Granny agony auntI agree with Dollparts. Just ask him straight out what that stuff is doing on your computer. As you say you share this PC, he should not be surprised that you have discovered these pics, and you have every right to be angry and shocked. You also have a right to an explanation. There are deeper issues of trust and respect here, but first find out what he is thinking.

Good luck!
