writes: hi, i need help to find out if my boy friend and i are illegal. my boy friend is 17 and i'm only 15. we've been dating since last september it will be exactly 10 months this year. he doesn't turn-18 until next march 9th and i wont turn 16 until may 12th, so we're exactly 2-years 2-months and 3-days apart. oh and we do have a bit of a sex life. is any of this illegal?

 We do have bit of a sex life..... errm ok. Well if you already are having sex why are you asking if its illegal, if we were to tell you that it is illegal wil you abstain from it? This statute refers to relationships between persons who become sexually involved 16 or 17-years-olds, and who are in a position of authority over the younger person and use this authority to gain a sexual advantage. Such a situation might exist between a 16 or 17-year-old student and a teacher or coach who is at least 60 months older."""

Well if you managed to get your head around it... I think the gist is, Currenlty you are only 15 so yes it is illegal.
You are able to engage in sex at the age of 16. I think the other law thats there is to safegaurd against pupil teacher relationships and the like, people in authority etc, and if an older was 60 months or more older than the 16 year old that too would be illegal, even to have a relationship with.
So whilst your guy wouldnt be illegal to have sex(with someone of 16 or above), or have a relationship with you, its illegal that you two are having sex together.
