My girlfriend is taking metformin. She is complaining of constant headaches, weakness and she sometimes feels like throwing up (vomit). Is anybody here taking or has any knowledge of it?

A reader, anonymous, writes (3 March 2009):

Sounds like she is experiencing some side effects. With metformin some symtoms are are nausea and vomiting.

Have her check the dosages and keep in contact with the doctor. Keep him informed. But honestly? Only the doctor can advise you the best, on this prescription medicine. You can also check this link:

bobbles32 agony auntsounds like something else is causing this (like pregnancy) because it's only been one day since she started taking them.

Unless she's having some kind of reaction the the pills. if it starts to get worse then take her to the hospital
