The thing is, is it okay to only use condoms on the first time and not birth control? A lot of people tell me it's better to be on the Pill and use condoms, but I don't think I'll be able to get on birth control just now. I will get on the Pill after the first time, but right now I just don't wish for it because I know my mother will get in the way and I'm sure the idea of me having sex will freak her out even though I'm 18.So if you could please help me on this?

I didn't have the same problem with ses topics but when i got my first boyfriend I was scared to tell my mom cos I was scared of what shell think. I thought she'll tell me that I'm too young for that or something but instead, when she found out throught a friend of my friends she was surprisingly calm and didn't care much for it.
So just have a talk with your mom and sure she'll atleast apreciate the fact that you know how to protect yourself :)

If you are old enough to have sex, aren't you also old enough to stand up against mommy and get the pill yourself?
As said, you are 18.
Get on the pill, not so much for the added safety, but as proof you are able to deal with things as an adult.

When did condom quit being a form of birth control?
At 18 you should be in full control of your body. I'd suggest adding a second form of protection, a spermicide would be a good idea. Condoms are effective if used properly, but there's too much chance for user error in my book. Plus, if you're all worried about the condom, you're not as likely to enjoy yourself.

If your mother is going to get in the way of you getting pills now, I don't understand why this won't be something she'll do after the fact. If you're going to have sex, definitely use a condom, but you should really get on the pill before you have sex.

Condoms are safe, 98% of the time, and are really safer that the pill in the sense that you are less likely to catch anything. But it is always best to use both, to make sure there is little chance as possible to you getting pregnant. Your mother might try to get in the way, but in Britain you can speak to the doctor in confidence, and you are 18, so you are an adult. Best to use both.
