 just tell him straight up. he will probably not go tell your friend. and if he does hes a douche. you can't help who you like. don't throw it all on him. but just tell him one day i think there is something you should know. i really wanna be more than friends with you. i don't wanna mess anything up. but i really feel deeply for you. and take it from there =) good luck
