I've tried high street products such as clearasil, clean and clear, freederm and neutrogena but they haven't helped atall. I've also tried panoxyl from my doctors but that also doesnt work it just irritates my skin. Any suggestions on anything i could use to reduce redness, scarring and just general spots? Suggestions would be very much greatful.

For persistent acne you need something from the doctor, rather than trying the over the counter stuff. Oral contraceptive pill, oral antibiotics and topical antibiotics (cream or liquid) have all helped me at one point or other in my life. It's important to treat this rather aggressively if you want to prevent scarring of your skin.
Doctors are used to treating acne, because it's fairly common, so don't be afraid to go back for more advise and hopefully a prescription.

What worked for me is a Salicylic acid face wash. Not that I ever had too many pimples, but even the odd one that I got during my periods, disappeared. But whatever you do, please contact a skin specialist first. What works for us will not necessarily work for you; each answer here is different and you cant go around trying every single thing suggested! You need a medicated face wash and that needs to be prescribed by your doctor after accessing what exactly the problem is.

You cannot take it without the recommendation of a doctor. You might have to follow this for 6 months and you should have everything cleared up.
All the best.

Have you tried any products containing retinol? You can also take it in pill form, but that makes you sensitive to sun. High strength (prescription) retinol is very good for clearing up skin.

So put an ultra thin layer of this on and it helps get through the horrible stage.
If you really hate panoxyl go back to your doctors, but only after giving it a good go (a couple of months trying it). You could ask for a topical lotion, dalacin T is an example it is a liquid antibiotic, no flakiness like panoxyl or risk of bleaching everything you go near! These antibiotic solutions often work very well but may need reviewing if your skin becomes tolerant to it.
Loads of other options but I won't bore you!! Speak to your doctor again though.

Try natural remedies before visiting a doctor. Tea Tree oil applied to the affected area is a good solution to clear up spots. Buy some of that and see if it helps.
I wish you all the very best.
