A male Canada age 41-50, *unna_you writes:

hello aunty,I am an aspiring drama actor, recently I have done some good plays and an upcoming actor..last week I was offered a lead role in a drama, which has a romantic story..but this time I have been paired against my sister -in-law,(my 2nd cousins wife)..who happens to be my love interest in the stage drama..

The role requires me to smooch her in 3-4 occasions and theere is also a scene where I will be only in boxers..there is another intimate scene also..I am a bit scared or worried now,as it would be awkard to do this role..my sister-in-law has been a leading drama actress, now on a comeback..I spoke to my director he said she was best suited for the role and she has no problems in doing the role..and the role requires these scenes..

I also do not want to lose the chance of not working under this director, coz he a noted one..

What do u sugesst?

Talk to her husband and get his clearance and then just do it. It's not real, it's just acting.

Good Luck!! xx

TasteofIndia agony auntIf you want to be a professional actor, you can't turn down a role for any reason, not unless it's a crappy play that'll just make you look bad. You need to be building your resumé, and it seems like you'll be working with noted talent. This could be a real opportunity for you!

She's your 2nd cousin's wife? She's barely related to you, buddy. Not to mention, your 2nd cousin has probably seen her in many other plays kissing many other guys - at least he knows that there's DEFINITELY not going to be any dirty business between you two off the set.

You'd be silly not to take this role and own it. Do the best you can, break a leg and shed that awkward feeling - it'll show on stage.

Good luck!

Forgive me if this sounds insensitive, but I thought the whole point of acting was to be able to ignore everything else and make the play real? It won't be that awkward, you're not the person with feelings for her and she's not the one with feelings for you, it's your characters. You've just got to take a deep breath, remember that none of it is real and go for it! When are you going to get a chance like this again?
