A female Singapore age 41-50, anonymous writes:

My first bf and i was sexually active for about 4 years, he was the first sexual partner but there was never bleeding after sex even after the first time.

Now i have a new bf, not long after i broke off with the first, my second partner, but sex with him the first time cause me to bleed, it was not painful but there was bleeding after i went to the toilet and spotted for 2 days.

why is this so? could it be that my hymen was not broken with my first partner? As their sizes was different. the first bf was smaller in size? Am i still a virgin after all these years? or is there other reasons?

A female reader, anonymous, writes (3 October 2007):

The hymen does not break, it stretches. Every time you are sexually active it will stretch a little more; hence why even your second or third sexual experience may not be completely comfortable if you don't have enough lubrication and/or foreplay. Perhaps because you were used to your previous boyfriends "size," your second boyfriend's larger size may have stretched your hymen too much or too quickly. Bleeding may result with any woman during sex whether she has been sexual active for 2 weeks or 20 years. Bleeding can be a result of rough sex, lack of lubrication, not being aroused enough, or not enough foreplay. Good luck.

rammsteinfan agony auntMy cousin fell on a fence when she was around 11 or 12 years old. She started bleeding and my aunt took her to the doctor. He told her that her hymen was broken...in a way that she was no longer a virgin even though she didn't have sex. Some told me that by using tampons could do the same thing, but I don't know how true that is.

I think by having sex, you are no longer a virgin. If you are still worried about it, talk to a gynocologist about it.

God Bless

howcomehoney agony auntPerhaps your first boyfriend never broke your hymen. If you're worried about it, get it checked out. As for virginity, I believe that that comes under the heading of "the first time you make love", not necessarily when your hymen breaks (Jesus, if that's true I lost mine horse-riding when I was eight) so you lost your virginity to the first guy. Hope that helps... :)

A reader, anonymous, writes (18 September 2007):

It mat have been that your hymen was broken before you previous boyfriend and when you had sex with your current boyfriend his larger size may have caused a small injury inside of you.

After your first time whether your hymen was broken or not you are no longer a virgin.
