Am I making too much of a lunch?

A male United States age , anonymous writes:

My 3 year relationship ended 10 months ago with a woman I loved and still do. I had not heard one word from her since. I had heard 3 or 4 months after we split that she was engaged. I was stunned, but I never bothered her or tried to contact her. i figured she moved on and was happy. Yesterday she contacted me and wanted to have lunch and talk. She said she misses me sometimes. I told her I wasn't sure i could handle having lunch with her because i still wasn't over our breakup and it would be hard for me to see her. Why would she want to get together and talk after so long without a word? Is she just trying to bury any ill feelings and this is a therapeutic lunch?I asked her why? and she has yet to respond. Am I making a big deal out of nothing?

Denise32 agony auntFirst of all, how did you learn that of her engagement? Can you be sure the person(s) who told you hadn't misinterpreted something they had heard?

It would be quite surprising if only a few months after you both broke up if she had met someone else and got engaged....

Well, whatever has happened: the fact is she wants to have lunch, and you told her where you stand. The only thing you can really do right now is to see what she says when she responds......it's too hard to tell what she has in mind at this point......
