a friend is having a birthday party..and one part includes her paying for a few of her friends to take a pole dancing class..i have taken the class with her but i am just not that good at it..i can't really do the spins or anything etc...i didn't feel that much pressure b/c its not like anyone is specifically watching you. She can do practically everything now so i guess that is why she chose that for her b-day..

but she said she wants the girls to do a solo thing..its probably only a minutes or two but i honestly don't want to do it..i don't feel comfortable and its not like i can do the moves and i dont think she really understands it b/c she is great at it..and i told her i dunno if i want to do that and she said come on, its just us girls noone cares etc etc..so now i feel the pressure to do it and plus she said i paid for this in a joking light way, u better do it! lol..

maybe i am making too big an issue out of it since its just us girls for that hour? we are going out afterwards.

Emaz help agony auntyou're all friends right? no one cares how bad you are, they'll still love you afterwards! just make a joke of it and just dance around the pole. ive been pole dancing before and i know how hard it is, you need strong arms and a lot of sessions to be able to actually be 'good'. i bet some of the other girls wont be good at it either

:) good luck!

cnith agony auntdance like no one's watching... I always loved that phrase.

I realise you're self conscious and omg end of the world, but maybe if you had some fun with it, even if you fall on your butt, you will still have a good time. It's a chance to be a fool without being a fool, you know?

Before you get to the pole you say, OK, let's see if I can do this without falling... or some kind of joke. Don't take it so serious, just have fun. And if you DO fall, or get out of rythmn say well, that was odd.. I could have sworn my feet went the other way!

In other words, make it light and you'll be fine.

No one cares if you're the best dancer or the worst and chances are someone will be worse than you. The point is to have fun, not to be 'pro' at it. :)

However if you REALLY really dont want to, then just say no thank you. I'll pay you back for the lesson if you want. Most likely she'll understand, if she's your friend. Stand firm. But me? I'd just go all goofy on it. Why not? It's a free lesson, more or less. Have FUN! :)
