 i think its good that he was honest and straight forward. at least he didnt go behind you back and cheat on you.
i know sometimes if a partner says something like this it can lower your self esteem. i think this is the best chance to really spice up your relationship, try new things, if your relationship become to predictable then be unpredictable, do something you wouldn't normally do.
if it doesnt work out try a break.

 Unfortunately it is quite common for someone in a long term relationship to become attracted to someone else at some point. The problem is in how he decides to act on this infatuation. As Sexybum said at least he has been honest with you and admitted the situation.
Has anything happened with this other person or is it just attraction? Are there problems in your relationship that might cause him to look elsewhere?

 Maybe you need to bring soem passion back into yoyur relationship with him, make him feel extra attracted to you. He's has told you how he feels so he has given you a window of opportunity. Sit down with him and talk about the whole situation. I mean I can't really givce you much advice because you haven't given us much to go on. If you could elaborate...........
