I know everybody can get it, I don't have any complaints and I feel good , but still I'm afraid. I'm just 19 years old and I'm searching myself for every symptom of it, which I don't have, of course. Can I do something to avoid it? What should I do to get rid of this fear? Reply to this Question Share |

my mother just finished battling colon cancer and thank the lord is clear of it. My father 3 years ago battled prostate cancer and is clear of it. Life isn't fair by any means but you can't waste time looking for symptoms of something that you probably will never get.
as far as other things are concerned, I don't think I could crash and die when I race cars because if I did then I would probably crash I just focus on the road ahead of me. Same goes with this... you are just freaking out for nothing.
You get what you get in life I hope you will be able to relax a little and just enjoy what you have and the moment

This is a bad path because we can actually bring strange symptoms on to ourselves...panick attacks etc FEAR! It is so important that you start telling your mind positive affirmations like ( you are happy each morning you wake and feel well) Have you experienced those people that for no real reason other than negative small talk say' oh you look a bit peeky' etc. I have walked away and started to dwell on that xxxx and started to feel unwell when i actually started the day feeling great. My point is, don't do this to yourself, reverse it to your advantage. You'll have enough time in life to have REAL symptoms so please stop doing this to yourself and FOCUS on happy things and at your age you should be too busy having fun with friends, to be searching in med books.Remember don't CALL what you DON'T want...self fulfilling.REVERSE your thinking to positive.spunky monkey

You don't have brain cancer, but you have something else: hypochondria.

I don't know how you can battle this without seeking professional help from a therapist. It could be you need to accept that it is an irrational fear you have, and that you do have hypochondria at one level or another. Then each time you get scared of brain cancer, remind yourself that you are suffering from hypochondria, which is far less deadly (however very stressful!).
By the way. I knew a girl who got brain cancer. She was the first girl I ever kissed, and like a sister to my best friend. She died only 4 months after being diagnosed. But, she lived every day of her young life to the fullest. She was wild and crazy, and did it all too soon for the rest of us, was the first to do anything and everything. At the time I thought she was too young for all the things she did. Now I am happy she did it, and lived life to the fullest. So much was left to explore, but she did as much as she could in her lifetime. Perhaps a lesson for you in this tale is to live your LIFE when you have it instead of spending it worrying about DEATH. Death will come to all of us at some point, that is the only guarantee in life. But until then, what do you plan to do? Worry? Being scared? Or live happily and do everything you want to do?
