writes: I just wanted some advice on removing hair from the bikini line, cause its really affecting my self confidence at pools and stuff.Ive tried shaving my bikini line but it gets red and bumpy where i have shaved. Going to a professional place isn't really an option, I'm just looking for something safe and inexpensive. Like, is there a method of shaving to stop the razor burn? It makes me feel really self conscious! Any advice will be appreciated thx.

as far as i am aware, waxing is the best long-term solution for unwanted hair, although personally i have found i had allergic reactions to the home kits (which are also more difficult to use) so although i completely understand that you don't want to or can't for practical reasons get it done professionally i suggest you seek some kind of medical advice or ask someone who has used them before how best to proceed. i've heard the home kits can be tricky to use, especially on such a sensitive area.
i don't know if you can get hair-removing cream designed for that area; it's worth a look, but i wouldn't recommend using any old cream unless it states on the packet that it's totally safe for use there.
as for shaving, what i do is make sure i use a very sharp razor (literally, i only use the blade on 3-4 occasions and then i change it) as this limits the pressure you need to use and also means you shouldn't need to go over any areas more than once to guarantee maximum hair removal. do it after a warm bath or shower, and use either a very gentle shaving foam or hair conditioner (sounds weird but works). try shaving in the direction of hair growth, as i hear this limits irritation. afterwards, wash carefully and use an unscented moisturiser. this should hopefully ease any discomfort.
i hope this helps.

You're probably better off using Nair or something like that if you haven't already tried it, one for sensitive skin, just paste it on, leave 5 minutes and wash it off. Takes the hair from the root. Avoids shaving rash.
Other than that or a trip to the salon I dont know?
