To get over him, you need to break all contact i.e. don't msg him, call him or email him.. of course this is only going to work if you really want to get over him. He clearly isn't over his ex so don't start up a relationship with him again until he is POSITIVE he is over his ex and maybe has broken contact with her. hope all goes well..
