Hi, yes a woman can bring back her milk after stopping breastfeeding. My daughter was premature and was in special care for several weeks. Before she was born i decided i didn't want to breastfeed. In her first week she was unable to take any milk because of her illness and the treatment she was given meant her stomach couldn't take food. Then it was a slow process of giving her 1 ml of milk perhour until it built up to the full amount. It was only after she came out of hospital that i felt like i wanted to breastfeed and i felt the need to bond with her cos i thought she wouldn't make it. With my health visitor's advice i breastfed her before giving her a bottle for every feed time for about a week. It only took 3 or 4 days to bring back my milk but a woman who has had a child can bring back her milk supply at any time by feeding a baby in this way or expressing.

After a woman gives birth, her milk comes in within 2-5 days. If a woman stops breastfeeing her milk dries up within a couple weeks.
