I wanna ask all the moms out there a few questions. First how do i deal with the nausea? I'm not throwing up at all but i constantly feel like its going to happen at any moment. I cant eat anything besides plain bread and corn flakes so now i'm afraid my baby wont get enough nutrition. What else can i eat that's a bit more nutritous? Lastly is it normal to just start crying for no reason? Last night i was sitting with my cup of coffee and tears just started flowing i still cant explain why. Could i be having an emotional breakdown or its all a part of being pregnant. Reply to this Question Share |

For the nausea, it always seems to set in for women when they get hungry, so always carry snacks around with you. Leave some by the bed and munch them as soon as you wake up, before you get out of bed. Ginger ale is a good idea in theory, but most ginger ale lacks actual ginger. Ginger pills or crystallized ginger tend to work better (ginger pills are nice since you won't have to taste it). You can ask your doctor for something as well, there are prescription anti-nauseas that are safe during pregnancy that you can take, some women set their alarm about an hour earlier than they need to be up just to take something, go back to sleep until it takes effect, and can wake up feeling completely normal.
As for the emotions, yes it's completely normal to have completely ridiculous mood swings. You have a lot of hormones running through you right now! It's very normal to go from hideously sad and crying to furious to happy to whatever mood is possible to feel.

I am 27 weeks pregnant with my second child, my first daughter and I had extreme nausea with my first child like you are. Ginger ale is really good with nausea. Saltine crackers and ginger ale is what worked for me.
Depending on how far along you are, most OBGYN's I know would say that it's perfectly normal for you to only eat what you can while you are extremely nauseous, but if is continues into the second trimester to the point of where you can't eat, then you need to talk to your doctor about it because it could potentially be harmful to your baby.
As far as the crying for no reason, do you do that often? Have you done it before? History of depression or anything like that? It could be an emotional breakdown, you just got married and now you're having a baby. It can be pretty overwhelming. On the other hand, I started crying the other day because I didn't have any chocolate in my house and one time I just burst into tears and broke up with my fiance for no reason. Hormones drive you insane.
Congratulations on your impending motherhood!

Be patient. As long as you are not anemic which doctors would have given you something for it. Baby will be fine.Tears are also normal. Do not worry, Enjoy your pregnancy.

For the nausea I eat saltines, they have really helped me and not made my stomic upset, since I have a weak stomic. good luck! and enjoy your pregnancy no matter what happens

Hi - firstly congratulations on your marriage and your baby news. Its funny how you can be nauseous and hungry at the same time isn't it? Keep some ginger nut biscuits by the bed and have one before you get up. The ginger is supposed to quell some of the sick feeling. Your baby is going to take all the goodness first from the foods you eat, so you are going to have to try to eat more healthily. I am hoping the nausea for you will disappear after the first trimester, but it can sometimes linger longer. As for bursting into tears - hormones are raging around your body at the moment and it is only natural that you are going to have panics/delight/fear - the whole range of emotions in fact.Good luck and enjoy this special time. And don't fear the birth either - mother nature is very clever - she gives you just enough time to get impatient to meet your new baby and gives you a 'bring it on' attitude! x
