 I take back my response then, as what you intended to post, and what got posted is different.
He is using you as a back up, so that when they split (he seems to be planning it, thus he is using her too), he can get into YOUR PANTS next. Men do this sometimes to keep them from becoming needy for sex. Set up the next lay, before giving up the first steady one.

It sounds like he is playing you, the way you are playing your boyfriend in being jealous and complaining about this guy you like.. while wondering why your bf does not open up to you. Maybe he has a "trust" issue or something? Can you think of any reason he might not trust you completely while you line up your new future boyfriend?
