A female United Kingdom age 36-40, anonymous writes:

How come men have one night stands with some women, and decide to have relationships with other women?. What makes the women that they have relationships with different to the ones that they have one night stands with?. I don't understand it. Also, would you be put off by someone who had had a one night stand, but they wanted a relationship with you?. Would you really believe that they wanted a relationship with you?.

A reader, anonymous, writes (25 February 2012):

If they pick up a man/woman in a Bar or Club then take em home n do the deed. Well, thats all either of them were probably expecting or wanted.

I reckon most people have had at least one, doesn't mean they'll own up to it though, it just happens.

Relationships are different, they start with dates, not sex, they build up slowly, then go exclusive, then maybe sex....

DoubleM agony auntWell, in my life, I've had a small number of one-night-stands, but most always usually unintentional on my part. One college girl, many years ago, told me in advance that she just wanted a quicky which was ok to me at the time. But I was usually open for more with women, even a relationship, but sometimes, it was the women just wanting some quick sex. Guys do not always know a woman's intention when accepting a date. A couple of them turned out to be either married or involved, but I didn't know that at the time. Women can be as stealth as many men.

A female reader, Miamine United Kingdom +, writes (25 February 2012):

Miamine agony auntWomen have one night stands too. If you don't like people who can separate sex and love, who can enjoy sex and then go off and get married and be totally faithful, then don't date them. People have one night stands for many reasons.

If the guy is asking you for a relationship, that's what he wants. If he's asking you for a one night stand or sex without commitments, listen to him, he isn't promising you love.

One night stands are not gender specific.
