 Hi, I am not an expert, but it would seem you would only be distant relatives by marriage, not by blood, so there is no reason to worry about the connection at all. You'll both just be invited to the same family dinners.

I'm not completely 100% but I would assume that you would be a 2nd Cousin to his mother therefore being a 3rd Cousin to him. I may be completely wrong but if you were worried about incest etc...I wouldn't worry.
