Worrying about my mammogram...

Hi Ladies,

I need to be calmed down right now. I just had a mammogram (I'm 51). I have had several baseline mammograms before, but they are all in other countries and are being difficult about sending them here. When I was examined today, she said "Let me take another one, just in case they want it later, you have more tissue in this breast than the other". Then after the first set of four, plus the extra one she took, she asked for sixth one on that same breast. She said it was because I have no other baseline mammograms to look at - for clarification. She repositioned me and took the next shot. Is this normal? I am telling myself not to worry, but you know how that goes. I'm heading up to visit family for the Easter weekend and I feel like I'm going to be totally preoccupied now. If there are any people who have had the same thing happen to them with good results or any other lab techs who can verifiy that this was not abnormal, please let me know so that I calm down. I don't have family history, but I do have a few risk factors (lifestyle, weight, menopausal, early period). If you can make me feel better, please write, I need a bit of help.

I am sorry i do not have any experience with this issue, but i might be able to help. I think that you are over worrying here. I am sure that if there had been a problem you would know. Even if there is a problem which is unlikely then there is nothing you can do about it not now not at the weekend away until you find out the results. Worrying is not going to improve anything, it will just make you feel worse. I think that you should concentrate on enjoying yourself at easter, and try to put this to the back of your mind.Life is too short for worrying and you should try and treasure every moment. Good Luck.
