For the sake of your sanity, I would pretend she didn't. If she says nothing, and you say nothing, give it time and no one will even remember. If you don't mention anything to her, maybe she'll think you were listening to a weird CD or watching TV... or that it was someone outside. Whatever crazy idea she gets is probably better than the truth in this case, hmm?
She's only 12, I'll bet she didn't even notice. And if she did? She can come up with her own reasoning.

But EVERYONE does it, everyone gets caught and its funny in hindsight. Id go with the deny it, say it wasnt you... i dunno, honestly hun, its SO not a big deal... try to see the funny side!!

reader, anonymous, writes (21 March 2007): I think you should assume that she didn't hear and go on as if nothing has happened. Just put the idea out of your mind. If she mentions it then say you don't know what she is talking about it. Lie! Sorry, but that is what i would do. What are you going to say to her, she is only 12 and wouldn't understand properly. Please don't beat yourself up, lots of people have been in this kind of situation, you are not alone. Just forget it.
