I am not ready to be a mother, and although we are using protection, I can't help but wonder if there is anything more I could be doing to keep myself protected. This may sound silly, but is there anything you can do to make yourself less fertile? I have heard of a few "tips" to do after sex, but I do not know if they are true. I've also heard that if you eat certain foods it can help you. I'm just not sure if they're all myths. Thanks in advance for your advice!! Reply to this Question Share |

Even though you don't mention any of the things you've heard I reckon they're all myths. The only way to prevent pregnancy is to use contraception and you don't want to reduce your fertility anyway, since you might want kids someday. When I first started having sex and was being a bit overcautious I used the pill and made him wear condoms. My thinking was that if they both have a 99% success rate then my chances of getting pregnant were only one in 9800 if I used both. I've become a bit more relaxed over time but if you're feeling anxious maybe you should use two types of contraception to make you feel a bit more secure.
