A reader, anonymous, writes (20 October 2010):

Let me tell you it WILL get better. In a 6 month span, I destroyed my 20 year marriage from an affair, lost my job, had to sell my house and even my dog got killed by a car.

Do you have unemployment compensation, or something equivalent in the UK? It seems there must be some way your government helps people who have lost their income. Good thing is, you're young and you can probably afford to take more jobs than someone who is further along in a career and perhaps more in debt or has more financial obligations such as a home, alimony or child support. I know you don't want to hear this, but it could be MUCH worse. Just keep a positive attitude, keep applying for jobs, move to an area that has more jobs if you must, and things WILL improve!
