A male reader, JALOVER Mexico +, writes (1 May 2012):

Hi Girl

The foreplay is the key. Play enough with him, (a lot of kisses and tendernes) and then, when YOU feel you are ready, ask him to let you take control on it and let him know you want to do it slow and easy. We, the man, can get too exited and too desperate, so talk to him about it first before that.

I do agree with the other answers: First time doesn't have to hurt.

person12345 agony auntWhat Chigirl said. Penetration generally hurts the first time most often because the woman isn't aroused enough, and/or because the guy is just shoving it in there too fast. Contrary to popular belief, sex does not actually change the size of your vagina. It doesn't stretch it out or expand it permanently. Your vagina is the same size now as it will be after you have intercourse for the first time.

If you are concerned about it hurting, there are a few things you should do for the first time. One is wait until you're with someone you can trust, who won't push too hard/fast and will care about how it's feeling for you. Two, don't try to have sex until he can get you to orgasm other ways. Then get almost to that point before trying to have sex for the first time so you know you are totally turned on.

The first time doesn't have to hurt.

A female reader, chigirl Norway +, writes (1 May 2012):

chigirl agony auntPenetration mainly hurts if you are not wet enough and he is pushing too hard and too fast. Penetration can hurt even if you are not a virgin. But if you are well lubricated, and he takes it very slow, then it probably will not hurt. It might feel weird and uncomfortable since you are not used to the feeling though. A penis will also stretch you out more as a penis is thicker than your fingers.
