I know if I dress warmly, I won't feel uncomfortable, but there is one thing in particular I'm worried about. Will the cold, dry air damage my hair? I like to grow it very long and donate it every couple years. Will working in this kind of environment slow hair growth? My hair generally grows fast. Would wearing a head scarf or hat protect it from damage? Or would it not help? Should I start using moisturizer on it? Reply to this Question Share |

I can't see why.
If you take good care of your hair you should be fine. I assume if you have to wear warm clothes you can wear a hat too.

I use a humidifier in my bedroom during the winter months because it helps me sleep, and I noticed it also helps keep me from getting dry skin or dandruff. They keep the temperature at 40 degrees in the warehouse. I know that doesn't seem cold, but the air conditioner would have to run constantly to keep it that cold when it's 90 degrees outside.
Thank you for your answer.

Do you have winter where you live? How does your hair act then? And what temperatures are we talking about?
I would say that no, it wont do anything to your hair, because the hair is dead. I don't see how it would take damage from anything. It might get frizzly, and if we're talking below 0 temperatures you should be careful to not have it wet, because it will freeze (been there done that) and when it freezes it will easily snap. But I doubt you'll be working under such conditions.
Conclusion: no, your hair wont damage.
