It started to bleed like crazy, but now it has stopped, and I have a wound just above my teeth. I'm worried that my smile is now ruined forever, and I won't be able to meet someone because of it.Anyone experience any cuts on their gums? I'm probably going to see the dentist tomorrow. ChillANDlearn is verified as being by the original poster of the questionThanks guys and gals for the responses. Luckily it didn't hit any nerves or damage my teeth. My dentist told me to rinse it with hydrogen peroxide and warm water with salt in the mean time. If it doesn't heal up my next Monday, he told me to come in again. I hope it doesn't leave a gruesome scar :(

I'm not saying you have this, but just keep an eye on your gum to see if any bubbles form. If they do you need to go to the dentist because infection in the mouth is nasty.
mystiquek is right, the mouth does heal, if your teeth aren't damaged and your gum is hurt quite high up, it should heal up quickly but it's worth making calls just in case.
The next issue, dogs saliva mixing with your blood. I'd suggest ringing your doctor and asking advice. My mother got bitten by her dog once and had to go to the doctors and have a tetanus jab I think it was just in case.
Hope this helps.

Normally the mouth heals very quickly. Years of having braces taught me that. Unless the wound was very deep, I would think that it will heal without too much delay. I think the wisest thing you can do is to see your dentist. He can tell you EVERYTHING, rather than us trying to guess. Don't be afraid to ask him about your concerns. I hope everything turns out ok.
