I use MSN Messenger so that I can talk to my friends at school. A month or two ago someone picked up my address by randomly adding it. Anyway I talked to her and although we had a bit in in common I found out she was 12 (and I'm 18). I haven't spoken to her since but I'm worried if something happens to her even though shes hundreds of miles away I may get in trouble. What should I do?

I agree with Wendyg. If you simply chatted nicely and respectfully to her, then you should have no worries. Some people do keep a log of their msn messenger conversations and the logs can be read by others. It's not hard to get into the logs if it's a family computer and an adult in the home, is the administrator of the computer. If having her on your msn contact list, makes you nervous you can delete her. But that doesn't get your contact name off her computer. In order to do that you will have to send her an e-mail asking her to delete you off her computer.

You are smart to be wary of her. She does sound like a very bold, aggressive and precocious 12 year old, if she is adding random names to her contact list. Obviously she is not being properly supervised by her parents. It's very likely she has many other names of guys, your age. The online community has many dangers...you would be wise to tell her to be very cautious. Good luck.

Wendyg agony auntUnless you encountered in some naughty talk or went down the path of being rude then I dont think you should worry too much! at least you stopped talking to as soon as you realised how old she was. And i hope you have taken her off your contacts so that you wont be tempted to speak to her again. There is no law to say you cant speak to people online, but its best to try and avoid chatting to very young people as this day and age it can be misconstrued, and led to other things. Maybe this is a lesson not to chat to people that you dont know, just in case!

Take care
