i recently got turned down by another girl for a date by a girl ive been friends with for years and normally id be fine but its how she did it that has me flustered, she said think of you as more of a big brother and someone who would stand up for me if i needed it and guys like that just dont seem to exist alot"

i was raised to be a gentleman and im starting to wonder if im ever gonna get a girl with that kind of attitude or if im just going to always be the big brother advice please.. thanks in advance

scythe agony auntmate, just keep on being a gentleman and you will find the right girl for you - one who appreciates a man who respects them. dont change just because of one chick.

personally, i was suprised when my boyfriend asked me out since he was a friend before, very gentlemanly, very older-brother like (he even reminded me of my bro :S) but you know what? i thought about it and realised that a gentleman is the kinda guy who i want to be with. and we are very happy now. so just hang in there and keep trying (sensibly, not desparately). you will find a chick who appreciates you just as you are.

i think you sound great :D

I agree with other answers - it isn't personal at all. You just picked the wrong girl. Keep exploring and you'll find the right fit for you.

Im going to be completely honest with you here. When a girl tells you that it's basically a polite way of telling you you're not her type. It actualy has nothing to do wiht you being a gentleman. If you want a girlfriend you should make it obvious what you're looking for, dont g after existing friends because you're more likely to get turned down, when a girl is upset about a guy, dont be the shoulder to cry n and offer your advice, although this seems like a good idea, it's not that attractive, you come off as soft & will always remain as a friend.
