writes: hi question 1: im 16 and got my yr 11 school prom in a few months time. the thing is everyone is going to obviously get all nicely dressed up in dresses and make up and stuff but im not like that. i dont wear dress/skirts and make up. i do my hair and things and im not a tom boy, i just dont wear make up and skirts.so when i get dressed up 4 the prom everyones going 2 notice me so much cos i'll be all dressed up in a dress and make up which they have never seen me in b4.and i dont really like being the centre of attention and i will feel really self concience about it. i do want 2 get dressed up though.question 2: oh yer and quite a few guys fancy me so do u think more people will fancy me if im all dressed up and stuff? (i have a feeling the guy i like fancies me 2, so do u think it would impress him when im all dressed up?)

 hunny a guy always loves a girl who makes an effort to look her best. so i think that if you are going to looked all glammed up at this prom you bound to catch the eye of a number of guys.
but my suggestions for the night would be not to let everyone looking at you, put you off and make you feel uncomfortable. Always have a smile on your face and just let go and enjoy yourself.

reader, anonymous, writes (22 November 2006): It's not about the way you look (although that is part of it) that makes a guy fancy you. It's about your personality and snese of humour. You must be appealing to lads in that way if a lot of them fancy you.
Put yourself in the shoes of your mates; how would you react if you saw them wearing something they'd NEVER worn before? Would you make a fuss? If you don't want to be the center of attention then just tell them beforehand that you will be getting dressed up but you don't want a big fuss because you don't want to be the center of attention.
Secondly, it might be nice to have a lot of people tell you that you look nice even if you're not the center of attention. Don't let a fear of people's reactions stop you from doing what you want to do! If you want to dress up then you do that Hun!
You never know, you might have a bit of fun getting yourself. You may find you like that kind of stuff or that you quite enjoy wearing it.
I think you should go for it; give yourself a new leash of life! XxXxX
