I declined citing the reason why I can't. Basically, he got the idea that I'm not looking to date right now. Here's what's leading up to my question: Up until then he hadn't given me his number; hadn't even offered it in case we needed to discuss schoolwork. But yet there he was asking if we can go out! My question is, why would a guy not give his number if he's interested in the girl? Everyone is sharing phone numbers these days, why not him? I recently saw the guy holding hands with a girl who I'm assuming is his girlfriend now, and I'm pretty sure he's texting her during classes cause he's been busy with his phone lately (yeah I'm that attentive).

Some people don't meet other people through their phones. It can be a comfort thing. He may also be in a serious relationship and not wanting girls from school calling his phone asking about that weekend hangout. Or he may have been shy, or maybe giving out his phone number hasn't worked for him in the past.
