There could be a lot of reasons for that.
Changing speed can effect it. If it was your first time you may not have got the 'right' movements to make him cum. This doesn't mean you're not good at it, just need to get used to what feels best for him. Or it could just have been one of those times where he just couldn't cum. I sometimes get that...
