you just got to think this maybe hard for him aswell.
if he has told you not to worry then maybe you shouldnt, and trust him with this, or have a subtle calm conversation about it and see where the ground lies,

Heres my advice: Ask him to be honest, and then ask what his facebook status mean.
but no matter what he says, distance yourself ... cause he will then realise that he misses you. and if not, it will save you alot of hurt
