A female reader, aunt honesty Ireland +, writes (7 November 2010):

aunt honesty agony auntshe is probably trying to protect herself here by not gettin hurt, its obvious she doesnt want you to join and she is probably ending the friendship now before you go away and she misses you. However this is quite selfish of her and you need to try talk to her, tell her you miss her and that you want to be friends but that its something you need to do and you need her to support you not fall out with you. I bet she likes you more than a friend.
