Dear Cupid I am a single parent and I have been fighting for childsupport for many years finally I am receiving it. But my children are grown the oldest passed away natural causes and I have a son he is grown. Their dad finally got caught after many years of nonpayment my question to you is all of his assets were frozen they even took his life insurance policy, cars and who knows what else. So will my son be entitled to money from his insurance policy and is there a statue of limitations on my case.He has gotten married now and it's like my child has suffered to long mentally and physically I mean money isnt and can't solve everything but it will give him some of the things.

A female reader, Honeypie United States +, writes (19 November 2018):

Honeypie agony auntLook into a pro bono lawyer.

However, it might still take a while for it to be settled as your son is over 18 and thus NOT in dire need of CHILD support.

It all comes down to the State you live in. If a judgment is made, the order is good for ten years and can be revived after that. In some the statue is much shorter.

Child supportive Agencies of your state SHOULD be the ones pursuing this FOR you (actually, for your son).

If you've been winging it on your own and waiting; you may need to hire a lawyer to cut through the red-tape. The state drags it's feet; and you're a file sitting on some over-worked employee's desk under a tall pile. Their father is ducking notices!

Keep calling and nagging everyone! Insist on callbacks. Keep names, dates, numbers, and the time of contact! Follow-up!

Get a lawyer to push this along! If you've got a lawyer, stay on his or her butt; until you get results! Nobody has as much to gain by this as your kids; so fight for them mom! Put a fire under everybody's asses!
