Question - (23 July 2010) 3 Answers - (Newest, 24 July 2010)
A female Singapore age 30-35, anonymous writes:

well there's this teacher, we talk to each other quite often last year.

but this year, he suddenly started avoiding me.

when i walk pass him in the corridor, he'll avoid making eye contact with me, pretend not to see me. and when i try to find him to ask some questions, he's always busy. when i heard he's leaving school, i wanted to bid him farewell. i just asked if he was free to come out for a few minutes, but he said he's busy again.

i don't understand why he started avoiding and ignoring me.

A male reader, Thecutehelper United Kingdom +, writes (23 July 2010):

Just merely stating the fact that he's a teacher and it is not he's job to interact outside of the classroom. But it certainly wouldn't hurt to be polite and spare a few minutes even If he's actually busy give it sometime, if there's any left ?

A reader, anonymous, writes (23 July 2010):

Is he like this with other students too? I doubt if it is personal. It could be that he has things on his mind. Perhaps he is having problems in his personal life at home, or he is stressed about something.

I know it must be hurtful, but try not to take it personally. Maybe you could write him a "goodbye" card and give that to him instead for when he leaves. Even if he is busy again, he will be able to take it with him and read it in his own time. I'm sure it would mean just as much to him, and to you, as a verbal goodbye. I hope this helps. x
