Use sparingly. Rinse with a mixture of vinegar diluted with 2/3rds water. Using baking soda instead of poo decreases oil production in the scalp a great deal as regular shampoo actually makes the scalp produce more oils.

Yeah,it sounds like the heat protector may be the culprit. You may also be prone to oily hair just naturally. If you think so, switch to a shampoo and conditioner designed for oily scalps. If you want to use a heat protector, use it on the very ends of your hair (provided that your hair is kinda long. A good condtioner will do just as much as the heat protector if your hair is short. Also if you have short hair, you may find it's better to skip your conditioner altogether. When I cut my hair short I found it got greasy alot quicker and I had to stop using conditioner because there was enough oils in my hair naturally. Everyone's different so you may need to experiment to find the best results.

If you try a clarifying shampoo and if that doesn't work, use a semi-permanent dye in your hair that matches your hair color (like Clairol Natural Instincts). The low level peroxide will strip all the grease out. As an added bonus it will temporarily smooth out your hair cuticle making it shiny.

Ok first of all washing your hair so frequently is not good for your hair - even if it is greasy! Your hair needs time to recover because shampoo strips hair of its natural oils, which means the hair needs time to recover and get back to normal after you have washed it! I have greasy hair and I wash mine every other day, so I would recommend you wash it no more frequently than that. Also when you do shower but your not washing your hair - keep your hair covered up, ideally with a shower cap. They dont look particularly attractive lol but water alone can make hair look greasy if it just gets wet without being washed, so try and keep it dry if you are not washing it.
Using heat protector is very important if you use hair straighteners or curlers, so dont stop using it but learn how to use it properly. You have to put it only on the lower lengths of your hair, no-where near your roots. So start at the ends, and work your way up to about your ears (depending on how long your hair is) and that should protect your hair without making it greasy. This goes for all hair products - never put them on your roots or at the top of your head! Same rule for your conditioner too. The ends are the bits that get the most damaged and dry, so that is where you should focus your conditioner rather than on the roots.
As for what is causing it - greasy hair is very common for teenagers and it is most probably just your hormones making you produce excess oil. There is not much you can do about it apart from trying to minimize it doing things like I have said above.
One thing I use quite frequently if my hair is looking a bit greasy between washes is dry shampoo (you can get it from most supermarkets and boots have a good range) - this is just a spray on shampoo that you leave on your hair for about 30 seconds then brush out, it refreshes your hair and is great for greasy roots! Its not too expensive either - Boots do their own brand version and it works very well, and it doesnt cost too much either.
If you are having big problems with your hair still in a few weeks time I suggest you go to your doctor - it might be that you have a hormonal imbalance and they can give you some tablets that will help with that. Also next time you get your hair cut ask for some advice from the hairdresser, they are the experts with hair after all!
I hope this helps and good luck!

Hun, quite possibly the heat protector is to be used on the length of your hair so that you dont damage it when using heat, dont think that you need to put it on your scalp or the crown of your head as this will make your hair oily.
Make sure that you wash all the shampoo and conditioner [if you use conditioner] out of your hair.
