it is the "game" of immature insecure people.
Jealousy is an emotion rooted in insecurity and his behavior is rooted in both insecurity and immaturity.
the bigger question is why does what this guy did concern you? are you asking because you think he may "like you" and want to "date you" ?

He thinks if you are jealous HE *wins*. Why would you be with a guy who acts this way though? He seems to get off on YOU feeling like crap (jealous).
People like that are petty.

In-case you don't...yes, it is important to him to know that he provoked your jealousy. He was doing it on purpose. He wants the twisted satisfaction of knowing he did. Don't let on. Laugh at him every-time he asks.
