A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I met a guy in August 2012.

At first we were kind of friends but later on we became so close. He told me he loved meand wanted me to move with him.

Because i had family situations i said to him i would love to move with him when i can.

We kept calling and texting and loved each other very much.

He told me he never told any one who dated before me the things he told me or shared with me. We didn't see each other since february because we both had our own family situations.

We tried to see each other so many Saturdays because something comes in the way. He was hoping to come two weeks ago to see me but i got my period the day before he was suppose to come.

He told me i lied because i didn't want to see him. I tried to explain to him after he ignored me for two days he believed me. We were not arguing but he said we argue a lot. I did not want to fight with him but he said he didn't want to see me. I tried to convince him but he told me we can't be togetger. I missed him and i love him.

He told me he wants to be my friend or my brother. I didn't want to be his friend nor his sister. He asked why because i didn't want to keep having pain. I asked why he wanted to be my friend he said cause "you are a nice person". I don't to be his friend please i need help. He doesn't have any reason to fight with me.

A female reader, So_Very_Confused United States +, writes (4 June 2013):

So_Very_Confused agony auntYou met a guy in August of 2012. Is this someone who lives locally to you or within an hour or two drive time?

You say that you wanted to move with him… do you meant move TO HIM? To be with him, that he does not live near you?

You said you kept calling and texing and loved each other very much…. You have not seen him since February due to family situations. I will tell you right now that if my partner was local and able to see me and did not due to “family” situations, I would know they are not a very good prospect for a life partner.

Why in the world would getting your period mean the man can’t come to see you? Why would you tell him not to come just because you got your period the day before he was supposed to come? This makes NO sense to me. Periods are a fact of life for women (and men partnered with women) and ALL MATURE adults cope with it.

He accused you of lying. He then sulked and ignored you.

He has TOLD you he does not WANT to date you, he sees you as a friend nothing more. YOU want more. He’s not willing to give it to you so that’s why he’s “fighting with you” he’s trying to get you to see your hope of a romance with him is futile.

LET HIM GO.
