If someone kisses you, put you hands on their waist, around their neck etc. It looks a bit silly if you don't and feels a bit awkward. My first kiss was the most passionate kiss I've ever had. When I was 16, me and my friend/romantic interest were walking through a field together. We stopped for a minute and stood in silence, turned to each other and kissed. He put one hand on my cheek and one on my waist. I had one hand on his waist and one in his hair. I didn't even think where to put them, it happened automatically. We did then fall into the field and make out there for a while. He is now my boyfriend of three years.

I am not sure I understand your question. How can you kiss people ( a real kiss, not a quick peck on the cheek ) if you don't draw them closer ? Normally people won't stand up or sit at "kissing distance ", so you have to eliminate that physical distance to kiss them. Well, I guess that if you are sitting side by side on the same couch, kissing is still technically possible without getting your bodies closer... but you'd still have to extend your neck a bit and that would be uncomfortable and look silly....
