Why does this COO treat me in such a manner? Why not just fire me?

A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I've recently decided to quit my job. I'm torn because I truly love my job... I just don't love the management team at my company.

My direct boss, the COO of the company is a poor manager. Basically she micro manages and enjoys putting me down. Here are a few examples :

1. Today I sent out an email stating that a mistake on our partner's end caused us our sales... she was cc'd on the email. She immediately replied to the email calling me out saying that I need to double check what i write in my email, it's COSTED us our sales and not CAUSED us our sales. I noted it and apologized for using the wrong word. She continued and replied back saying why don't I ever check my emails before I send it out.... and she mis-spelled a word in her email reply .. I almost LOL at that!

2. When I first joined this company, one of our partners threatened to cancel their partnership with us, due to HER mistakes and lack of response to their requests and inquiries. She almost lost a 10 Million dollar account. I stepped in and took over and within two months was able to regain our partner's trust and mend the relationship. Not one acknowledgement, not one thank you.

3. I stepped out to take a personal call for 10mins.. she is there waiting for me when I get back asking where I went. I said I had to take a call... she said TAKE A CALL DURING BUSINESS HOURS?? I said yes, an important call. She begins to interrogate me as to what kind of call etc. I am a hard worker who works through my lunch hour every day... I never take breaks... and today I decided to step away for 10mins to take a call and I get this from her???

I don't understand why such an attitude.. if she doesn't want me, she can fire me. But why treat another human being like this?? What is up with a person like her?

Once I secure a job, I'm leaving her... without notice!

aunt honesty agony auntIf you are unhappy at work then the best thing to do for yourself is to quit. It does seem unprofessional of her to email a reply back where I assume other people can see the email if she is cc'd in to it. I do happen to agree though that you should watch spelling when it comes to work emails so try and let that one go.

Some companies are like that and you never get thanks for your hard work. Off course it is nice to hear from time to time that you are doing a good job and your efforts are going noticed however as long as you satisfy yourself at work and know you have done a good job that should be the main one.

Law states that you are entitled to a lunch break if you are working full time. So why are you not taking a lunch break? If it is a case that you work through your lunch break by your own choice then I would recommend that you stop doing that. Also personally where I work we are not allowed to accept personal phone calls during work hours so again I can see her point with that.

Either way you are clearly not happy so maybe it would benefit you more to look for another job.

I can 100 percent relate to this post because I had the same thing happen to me in a big firm - I loved my job and my woman boss did the same thing in an email- micro managed me and pushed me out of there

There is Ani explanation of the hostile environment she is creating and to be frank with you - there is clearly no point in staying there - the manager has issue and is out to get you; clearly there is something wrong with her mentally to be picking on you (power trip/miserable person)

My boss would do anything and everything to get rid of me and I left and told her off - I’m 100 percent certain she was intimidated and karma would get to her

Honestly just breathe - stay calm and know god has other plans for you that will land u to something EVEN better - this person is miserable - no matter how u approach it - please hang in there and sending luck to the universe for you!
