Why does my ex always ask about my new guy?

Question - (1 April 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 1 April 2010)
A female United Kingdom age 26-29, anonymous writes:

My ex and I broke up a little more than a month ago. I am now kind of seeing this new guy (but we're not in a relationship yet) however my ex constantly asks about it. We would start a conversation online (we don't talk face to face anymore as we go to different schools) and one of the first thing he says is "how's he doing?" until I recently subtly hinted it was annoying, then he stopped. He was apparently going to get back with his other ex but now he doesn't like her anymore. I am soon going to be attending a party, as will he. It will be the first time we talk face to face since our breakup and we agreed that we were going to sort out our friendship. I am quite worried and I don't know what I should say or whether I should ask him why he always asked about my new guy. Why would he be doing this and what should I say when I see him?

He is jealous. He still wants you. I'm not saying he wants you back, but you will have that little bit of protectivity with a girl. Even after you guys r over. Bcuz that's kinda his territory and til he finds himself another girl, its gonna b lyk that.
