writes: hi.there is this guy in college we are on the same course and in the same tutor group, he is 17 and im 21, and thats not much of an age gap - its 4 years. but the thing is he knows half the people round my street, who i know to and he is mates with my sisters. hes recently found out as his mate who is in our group to told him. my little sisters know him, and they found out that i like this guy, as he told them, that its embarrasing but i dont know why? why do u think that is. He's probably just flattered. He's probably thinking, "aww shucks. lil' ole me?" I wouln't think anything of it. Perhaps it would've been best if you told him you liked him yourself rather than him finding out from other people. But... what's done is done. Why don't you ask him out and find out if he feels the same? What have you got to loose? Go for it! :)

It could be for a variety of reasons - he may not feel the same way about you and there finds it 'embarrassing' to have to see you at college knowing you fancy him, he may have a problem with the age-gap even if you don't, he may not be ready for a relationship at 17 and scared to death of women romantically, he may find it awkward because you share contacts (friends/ your sisters etc) and he may feel it impacts on his friendships with them and they may tease him too. If you really want to know, just ask him!
