It is something very strange because we never chat whatever few chats we had were about college related study related matters.we never comment or like each others statuses still in my chat box his name appears on top of list if he is online.I have been observing this since past one year and it is definitely not co incidence. My friends felt maybe he is ignoring mebut we meet daily at classthough we dnt talk muchhe keeps starring me alotinfact I do doubt he likes me.what could be possible reason of his logging off as I log inplease please help me am really confused why would a guy do this?

Sometimes, someone will come online and I will turn off chat so that they don't think I am online all the time and don't have anything else to do! It can be anyone, I do it to people I'm friends with or not.
...I think you're reading too much into this.

reader, anonymous, writes (12 August 2014): I've also noticed a guy do this to me. And I've actually done it to him as well. I honestly don't even know why. So I wouldn't say it's completely nothing, it could mean something. If you want to go really deep with this, it could be that you both have tension between you and either can't be together right now or he is too shy to start anything with you, and over time people can get angry with eachother for no reason really, just this tension. And maybe he's signing off cause he knows it would bother you...I don't know if that's true, but I feel that way with someone sometimes, others have to too.

It would be one thing if he didnt want to have to have a boring chat with you or something. But since you have next to no interaction on fb there is none of that going on. Obviously you are looking at his icon to see what happens. There are probably other people that log off when you log on but you aren't paying attention so you dont see it.
