Why does he give me random attention and then ignore me for days?!

Hey. Im just wondering if you can help me understand something about this lad. Ok, so one day he'll give me all his attention, talk to me, flirt with me, compliment, text me, Msn and everything then the next day he won't even aknowledge me - Im as good as invisible to him! In fact, it could get as far as him not talking to me for a week! Then, out of the blue, 5, 6, 7 or even eight days later he'll text me something measly like "boo! did I scare u?", then I'll reply and he won't reply back for an hour or two. Then a day later, he'll give me all his attention again. It upsets me a little bit because it makes me think he is embarrassed about talking to me and wanting to stay away from me because of it. This is probably not the reason at all, but hey, thats what I think. Its just so confusing. I don't understand why he'd be like that - Im not like that with him! I know he can't spend all his time talking to me and I dont expect that at all, but I just don't take well to being ignored. I understand that I might sound like a possessive lil cow now lol but please believe me, Im not!!!! Can you help me understand why is he doing this?
