There're many posts on dearcupid coming from 13-15 year olds saying "I want to have sex with my boyfriend" or "Could I be pregnant?". What's the rush??? I'm 16 and haven't even had a boyfriend and even if I did, I wouldn't jump into bed with him! But this is just my point of view. I'm just interested to hear others point of view on why young teens have sex? I believe you should wait until you find the right person to give up your virginity! Hope I get a few replies.

I was a virgin up until about 6 moths ago (16 at the time)and i am a 17 year old A* student. I had the best intentions of keeping my virginity until i was married but hey things happen. At the start i was distraught feeling like i had did something really wrong but then i realized i had been in the relationship for over a year and a half so i can hardly be called an immature horny wee girl. I have always been quite mature for my age and although that is not an excuse i am still in the same loving relationship and after i finish my education we have plans to get married. with regards to the comment about 'playing adult games 'and its our 'hormones' i think that this is an unfair judgment made around the small number of teenagers who sleep with people all the time just for the fun of it, and i agree that in these situations, it is a downright disgrace. However have you ever thought about the fact that it was the older generation, people like you who didn't teach teenagers good morals? maybe you should do less judging of others and take good look at yourselves! I know that i am most certainly not perfect, far from it in fact but, is anyone? so give teenagers break i think if the older generation were to live their life again now they would see its not just the amount of underage sex that has changed, and with increased pressure being put on teenagers by the minute it is only getting harder. if older people could witness this it just might make them realize that life is not easy for teenagers and it would make them think more carefully about judging them.

If the trust is there, the protection and the sensible brains are there, I don't see why this is frowned apon any more than 30 somethings going out on the pull and having one night stands.

It is an incredible connection with someone you love. The thing was I was certain he was the one and I never planned in my entire life to have more than one partner. The only reason we are not married yet is because I have a full ride scholarship to college and it is worth it to wait to get married until I finish school. Many teens have sex because they think they are in love and are niave. I had a bad childhood and grew up quick. I found the love of my life and I dont regret it. I just feel bad for people who wait and then end up having multiple partners. I had a friend who waited until she was 17 and now she has had 8 partners. I think that you haven't met the right person and you should be proud that you still have you virginity, but realize that maturity can happen early sometimes like in my case.

The idea of having any barriers between attraction and sex has become totally foreign.

I do not regret losing my virginity, despite the fact that the relationship came to the end a year and a half later (we were together for two years in total). We had a great sex life, I was on the pill, and we always used a condom.
I did not have many friends at the time, and he was lacking in a good home life, so we were not only best friends and companions, but provided a release for each other, and were very intimate emotionally.
The same case with my current man. It isn't about just feeling good or doing it because it's 'cool'. Our sex life is VERY private and personal, actually. It's about comfort, communication, and togetherness.
But hey, I won't lie, it's AMAZING.

When my sister told me she'd been having sex when she was 14 I was stunned.
But, seeing that you're from the UK too.. I guess the Chav population'll be going up soon again with young teens having sex.
Christ, I'm 16 too and still innocent. Regardless of some of my ex boyfriends trying to force me into it I still kept it and it's something that I'm proud to have tbh :]

I have no idea why kids so young have sex. Maybe they want to be more grown up, impress their friends or think its part of a relationship like kissing. But at the end if they end up pregnant they relise they shouldnt of played adult games but then sometimes its to late to help.
Im glad their are some smart young teens out there but i dont know why some rush their sex lives at such a young age
