Anyway, my boyfriend watches me sleeping and I caught him a lot of times. One time after sex, I went to sleep directly and the next day I found him staring at me and and he said he didn't sleep the whole night, he just watched me sleeping. And i asked him and he said he just wanted to enjoy the moment that I was sleeping beside him. It was very sweet though to hear him say that.
I just got used to it.

I used to watch my ex fiance sleep. He looked peaceful, and beautiful and there was a sweet innocence about him. Then I'd kiss him awake.

I'll bet something like 90% of the folks who spend much time watching lovers sleep are female, and yes, it is sweet. In my opinion, guys probably spend very little time watching their wife or girlfriend sleeping. We have to get things done, don't ya know?
Certainly, I may pause for an adoring view of my woman sleeping on occasion, but I've always thought that secretly watching her akin to an invasion of privacy.
Yet, I know that women have watched me in that state. Did not really know why but assumed they must not have had anything better to do. That's about all I have to offer.

Because when I watched my old fiancée sleep, she wasn't wearing any forced expression or any smiles from jokes or frowns from stress or any mask at all. She was just her, totally relaxed and peaceful and beautiful. There's something innately attractive about that tranquil moment when the person you love is asleep, utterly calm and trusting. I'm allowed next to her, to watch her, to hold her as she sleeps, and that vulnerability and trust in me is very intimate.
For the same reason, many people (myself included) think that a girl often looks her best when she wakes up, with hair messy and eyes drowsy and no makeup, just totally honest and loving and intimate.

It's a very intimate time with someone. In my lifetime, hardly anyone has (sweetly) watched me sleep (oh God, at least to my knowledge they haven't). Maybe your parents while you're a baby... but otherwise, only those who are very close to you get that opportunity.
It's a very personal, and as others have said - peaceful time to watch your partner sleeping. Innocent, primal and honest. Sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night and see my fella sleeping, and I can't help but to look at him, my heart warms up and I give him a kiss and watch his subconscious react.
Just think about the way you feel when you see a baby or a puppy sleeping... it's a very primitive feeling.

Because they are vulnerable when they sleep. It's the one time you can really observe them without a fight or an explanation. And there's something peaceful about watching them sleep, like a stolen moment only can enjoy.
